Here are THREE words that can save your life!
Door Knob>Sticky Drawer>Sneeze

DOORKNOB>
Perp(Threatening person in front of you) They are expecting you to go for their privates> Instead grab the nose like you would a doorknob twist it & either push or pull>
STICKY DRAWER>
Like you would do if a drawer was stuck> reach out & pull with all your strength & where does your elbow go? hopefully in the person behind you MIDRIFT!
SNEEZE> Perp(THREATENING PERSON) is in front of you> GO to sneeze by pulling your head back & throwing it forward into their nose/forehead area causing them A Lot of pain>
After doing any of these > SCREAM THE WORD "FIRE"> Because "Help" rarely brings anyone to you but EVERYONE wants to know where the fire is.
WOMEN> WHile shopping in stores like Wal Mart> Put your purses in the buggy & use the child safety straps to Secure your purse & prevent the purse snatcher from grabbing yours> You have a child that needs to sit there you can still loop the strap through it behind your child.
In YOur car, fasten a safety belt through it & this will prevent the "bump & run" perp from snatching your purse as you fumble for your insurance info...(Better tip is to keep your car doors locked for red light robbers)
Hope these tips can save a life

These are really great tips Ashley, thanks for the info. They also say to carry your keys in your hand when heading to your car with your largest key protruding through your fingers. Then if attacked, hit the assailant with your fist thus jamming the protruding key into the attacker.

Yelling 'Fire' is one of the best things I was ever told. However I wonder if, in the heat of the moment, I would actually be able to remember it, or would find myself yelling for help instead.

The safety belt through your bag is excellent advice, I love it!

It is always better to try and fight the perp off in some way or another as opposed to complying with requests

However if the perp has a gun, I would not recommend any of those techniques. Those would be a good way to get shot.

Definitely some great tips! Though adding to the "Doorknob", you could also grab their ear and twist. - Ouch!

<skeptical wince>

Ummm, you can replace your money or car but you can't replace your life and nor can your family.

There is only one thing you never give up and that is your location...never get into a car and go to a secondary location. The only reasons he wants to move you is to be able to do stuff he can't do where you are.

That is worth fighting for...

While it is not usually recommended, many people have fought against a criminal with a weapon and survived or even won. Just because he has a weapon doesn't mean he is really ready to use it nor will he naturally be any good at using it.

If you must fight, then do it with all your heart. Here is a little video on how to use improvised stabbing tools...
